Environmental and Safety Manager - Space Coast, FL


The Environmental Safety & Health Manager assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining job site safety programs. Acts as an in-house adviser for the environmental, health and safety concerns pertaining to company and project operations and assures compliance with all federal, state, local and company regulations. The Health and Safety Manager will ensure everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws. You will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace and safe practices.


  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring the safety and training
  • Inspect job sites to ensure safe work environments

  • Hold pre-construction planning meeting with subcontractors to review overall site safety program and job hazard analysis for their scope of work, and ensure plans are in place to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure proper pre-planning for all activities and tasks for subcontractors and trades.
  • Manage time and resource allocation appropriately to provide overall safety leadership to assigned project(s).
  • Create safety reports for the project, analyzing metrics and making recommendations for improvement over baseline.
  • If applicable, supervise and provide guidance for the development of Project Safety Assistant, communicating clear objectives, goals and related deliverables and holding direct reports accountable.
  • Evaluate training needs and make recommendations to subcontractors.
  • Actively participate in reducing Project Incident Rates by meeting or exceeding established goals and manage regulatory exposures to zero citations
  • Coordinate closely with all staff and subcontractors to ensure industry HSE standards are being implemented and observed.

  • Responds to employee safety concerns, by examining safety issues, preparing corrective actions and ensuring appropriate follow-up.

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, risk management, safety engineering or related field preferable. A minimum of 5+ years of construction / heavy industrial safety leadership experience.
  • Ability to pass extensive background checks for badging purposes; to include NASA, DOT, JLA, CCAFS, PAFB, and FASA BASA
  • Experience in a construction environment is preferred
  • OSHA 500 certification preferred
  • Education/training in Occupational Safety & Health
  • CPR, First Aid, AED Trainer certified preferred
  • Superior written, verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel applications
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment

Job Summary
Lead – Environmental and Safety Manager

This position will perform the full range of contract administration from pre-award through closeout. Perform correspondence, negotiations, monitoring, change order tracking, modification tracking, sub-contractor document maintenance, contract close-out, file maintenance, and interaction; researches, analyzes, coordinates, develops and maintains documentation.


  • Represents the organization as the primary administrative contact on assigned portfolio of contracts.
  • Experience with large and small complex contracts and their administration at various phases of the contract performance. Must have experience with FFP, CPFF, CPIF, T&M contract types.
  • Must have a complete understanding of contract principles, theories and concepts and be fully knowledgeable of practices, techniques, and standards under the Federal Acquisition Regulations and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • Prepare contract change notices, monitor contractor performance, including the reporting and status of contractor and owner deliverables.
  • Maintain an audit file for each contract which will include original contract, all correspondence, changes/deviations, amendments, clarifications, payment schedules.
  • Reviews, redlines and negotiates government and government contractor terms and conditions as well as support the negotiation of non-disclosure agreements. Advises management of contractual rights and obligations as well as provides interpretation of terms and conditions.
  • Interface and coordinate with contractor/subcontractor, intercompany, inter-department and internal department personnel.
  • Provide assistance in coordinating, developing and producing proposals.
  • Support bid and proposal review, approval, and submission with Proposal group to ensure customer solicitation requirements are met as well as FAR/DFAR and company policy compliance.
  • Maintain small business activities as contractually required
  • Support Company’s compliance with Government socioeconomic programs and initiatives. Provide contract summaries and ensure contract execution in accordance with company policy.

  • Day-to-day management of the assigned construction project.
  • Management of construction budget, schedule, submittal packages and project sub-contractors.
  • Coordination of RFI’s, Submittals, Site Inspections, Punch Lists, and all other Construction Administration required to ensure a successful project
  • Maintain a proactive working relationship with the customer, sub-contractors and internal team.
  • Issue weekly construction updates and monthly reports to include budget and cash flow summaries, schedule and programming updates during the course of the project.
  • Manage and coordinate procurement schedules and ordering, commissioning reports, operational handover document packages, and provide a seamless transfer from construction to the operational teams.
  • Investigate damage, accidents or delays at construction sites to ensure proper procedures are being followed.
  • Take appropriate action to deal with the results of bad weather, delays or emergencies at construction site.
